Tune up on the town website
Context Management System (CMS) websites have this poll feature as a plug-in modules. CMS will be part of a purposed enhancements made to the cable-committee next week. There will be a demo of Brookline-Town site using Drupal (CMS suite) next week.
CMS has huge advantages for town governments consisting of many departments. The first advantage is that it basically a "Database" of information built on SQL, second it is very secure (banks use this technique for online banking). And finally, it has a business-to-business easy access interface for each department to publish new information (polls, online forms, town forums, reports,…9 votesThe selectmen will be soliciting bids this fall for the creation and technical support of a new town website that will use a content management system. Town Center Concept - Mixed Use Zoning
I think that the town should begin to look at establishing mixed use zoning for main street . This would allow the introduction of light retail shops and stores in the lower level of the homes along main street. The citizens benefits from having local access to goods and services. The homeowners benefit from being able to work in town. The town benefits from enhamcement and preservation of our small town culture.

Post BOS meeting videos online.
Here is a company that hosts the videos http://www.leightronix.com/streaming/pegcentral.php . The cost is reasonable and it would improve the transparency of the board. Perhaps the cable access department has sufficient funds from the fees to pay for the service (assuming they have interest in the project)? Here is another town's (Durham, NH) example of the dedicated video site for you to see an example (dedicated site is part of the service package): http://dcat.pegcentral.com/

Certainly an idea that is consistent with the updated Master Plan’s desire to build on the idea of a “town center” for Brookline. A key question is where it would be located given the absence of a sizeable parcel of town-owned land in the center of Brookline.

Establish a Historic District in Brookline to keep the rural New England town feel
To keep Brookline looking like a rural New England town. This concept keeps appearing on surveys, visioning, etc. Lets not turn Brookline into a town you won't recognize as "rural" with future growth. Protect our individual character.

We need to fix the traffic pattern at the intersection of Cross Rd. and Pepperell Rd.
There have been a lot of traffic accidents involving vehicles traveling west on Pepperell Rd and then turning left onto Cross Rd. There have been many ideas for changing the traffic pattern to make it safer.
3 votesThere is a site visit with the NH DOT scheduled for Friday Oct 2 at 12:30.
We will ask the police chief to review the traffic and accident history and make a recommendation on traffic and/or safety medications (BOS meeting 6-Jun-2011)

Purchase State boat ramp
We charge people from out of town to use our beach to pay for the milfoil issue. Because the boat ramp is state owened we cannot charge people from out of town. Right now the state is having a hard time funding these ramps and other facilities. Lets talk to them.
